Minnesota Fats Pool Tables

Minnesota Fats pool tables are named after the fictional pool hustler, George Hegerman, who was a character in several books by Walter Tevis, and who was better known as Minnesota Fats.
In real life, Rudolf Wanderone Jr, who was originally known as New York Fats (among several other names), changed his nickname to Minnesota Fats so that he could cash in on the success and fame of his fictional namesake, who was the star of books and movies such as The Hustler and The Color Of Money.
He even went so far as to claim that Walter Tevis’ character was based on himself, although this was always strongly denied.
While he was an accomplished hustler, Rudolf never won a major pool tournament in his life, mainly because he was more interested in hustling, but he was good enough when it mattered to make sure he left the table with the money – even if he did have to fight his way out of the pool hall occasionally.
